Building resilience in Norfolk

Debt is easy for many of us to try to ignore. But as Norfolk, Va., resident Patrick McMillan can attest, that isn’t a sustainable approach to finances. “I was in the military. I earned a lot of money, but I didn’t save a whole lot,” Patrick said. “My retirement was an eye-opener for me — that’s when things started to get challenging. I filed for bankruptcy twice. I saw that my future would be dim if I didn’t make changes.” Now, through the support of Bank On Norfolk, Patrick’s got a brighter financial future. Bank On helps people like Patrick build the skills they need to take control of their finances, so that if disaster strikes they will be financially resilient.
